![]() ![]() How exactly were the sets suppose to look like?Įven though the idea behind ancient aliens was dumb, the sets still looked cool, I agree with you there. It neutralises the threat and that's a no no for movie monsters.Īliens are their specific prey that they've presumably studied extensively and know their behaviour, such as sneaking in the shadows through purpose built tunnels that you already know are there due to the fact that you had a scene with the predators using holographic schematics. ![]() Killing them off unceremoniously cheapens the whole thing and makes you wonder what the point of having them in the movie was If they just die off like a regular humans. You've got a point about the Youngbloods, but I think part of the allure of predators are that they're an otherworldly, primal, technological threat. I do get a laugh every time I'm reminded that the guy who directed Resurrection (which I'd take over AvP) also did fucking Amélie, of all movies, though. It's probably an even worse movie, though, really. It's even dumber, but to such a degree I can't even get mad at it. I can't think of a single other nice thing to say about it. Yeah, these are pretty neckbeardy nitpicks, but there's just too many of them, and they're not the only issues, by far. A heat bloom off the coast of the Antarctic to attract humans? In a complex built thousands of years ago, and humans would have only had the capability of ever noticing it in the last few decades? The entire basis of the plot doesn't make sense. Even the following movie got this right, where the predator's major goal is to erase any sign of them being on Earth. That newly announced one sounds pretty close, though.) In AvP, they specifically give the protagonist one of their weapons. In Predator 2, they take the disc away from Danny Glover, being sure not to leave any evidence of their existence, and leave him a centuries-old pistol, instead (I still want my pirate-age Predator movie. It seems to go out of its way to deviate from established lore for no reason.ĭumb decisions like "Both previous movies established predators prefer especially hot climates, let's put this one in the cold!" But especially from an actual Alien and/or Predator movie standpoint.
